Driver charged with impaired after doing 164km/hr in a 100 zone
Huntsville OPP charged a driver with operation while impaired after he was stopped for speeding on Highway 11 in Huntsville.
Police say that on Thursday, at approximately 11:55 p.m., police stopped a vehicle travelling at 164km/hr in a posted 100 zone. Upon speaking with the driver, police were led into an impaired driving investigation and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made. As a result, the accused was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old, Zackary Smith, Huntsville was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – with a Blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Stunt driving, and
- being a Novice driver with a Blood Alcohol Concentration over zero.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Court on June 18, 2024.
